ESP Weather the Storm for Cork Penny Dinners

Monday 1st June 2015 was a washout in Cork. The rain teemed down and the wind hit you head on. You would feel mean-spirited taking your dog for a walk that day. But the runners from ESP weren’t about to let a storm get in the way of their efforts for the Cork City Marathon!  ESP entered four relay teams and Amelie O’Brien from our accounts department was running her first full marathon.  Donning their ESP shirts, they hit the road, heads down, pushing on – all in aid of Cork Penny Dinners.

Cork Penny Dinners offers people of Cork an open door and a warm welcome – serving over 1000 healthy meals each week (compared to 150 a week only two years ago) to those who need it. It offers a warm, safe place to meet others and beat loneliness. It’s income comes purely by the generosity of companies and individuals – without it, they would have to cease operating. ESP is proud to support their efforts.

The ESP runners did amazingly well – all finishing in great times, considering the deluge and Amelie successfully completed her first full marathon – one she’ll never forget!
