A leading pharmaceutical corporation chose Enterprise System Partners to implement MES in their tabletting plant in Ireland.

Objectives:

  • Implement paperless environment in an existing Tabletting facility
  • Integrate MES with the ERP system
  • Integrate MES with SCADA, LIMS and CAPA
  • Capture of batch reports and implementation of ‘Review by Exception’
  • Minimize deviations
  • Maximize yield and value to patients

Success Story: ESP provided project management, technical design, MES engineering and validation support on this project.  This project also required ESP to lead the implementation of a data historian, a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and associated IT infrastructure.

Delivery of an efficient and well integrated EBR with total elimination of paper from the manufacturing environment was a critical success factor in this high volume facility.

A phased cutover without significant impact on a busy production schedule was also required. This resulted in hybrid operation while the electronic batch record was gradually rolled out throughout the plant.

Wireless capability and operator terminals had to be built into the existing building while minimizing disruption.

High availability, high reliability communication/information infrastructure was provided, including major civil upgrade to data-centres.

Key to this success is the ability of ESP to build on the knowledge gained from many successful MES implementations across the world.
